Business: Serbia's JAT Airways to begin regular flights to BiH

JAT Airways will fly from Belgrade to Banja Luka three times a week, with a fourth flight to be added in December. Also this week: Greece and Turkey plan to launch a natural gas pipeline connecting Asia and Europe.

Serbia's national airline, JAT Airways, has announced regular flights from Belgrade to Banja Luka, starting Friday (November 9th). Serbian Minister without Portfolio Dragan Djilas and Republika Srpska's Transport Minister Nedeljko Cubrilovic said they hope the new route would boost economic co-operation between Serbia and BiH.

Greece and Turkey plan to launch a 285km-long pipeline on November 18th, bringing natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Greek counterpart, Costas Karamanlis, will take part in the opening ceremony.

The retail group Carrefour plans to build 20 hypermarkets in Bulgaria by the end of 2014. In Sofia, the company will invest around 200m euros in construction of a mixed-use complex, including commercial areas, business offices and entertainment venues.

An international tourism and catering fair opened in Porec, Croatia on Wednesday (November 7th). The Promohotel 2007 exhibition brings together about 150 tourism and catering equipment employees, as well as producers of furniture and other interior design items from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Germany, Austria and Serbia.

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska announced a plan to invest 40m euros in the construction of a new hydro power plant. The facility will have a capacity of 40 megawatts.
