BRUSSELS, Belgium -- Albania joined the EU's Competitiveness and Innovation Programme on Friday (June 27th). The memorandum of understanding through which the country joined the entrepreneurship and innovation pillar of the 3.6 billion-euro programme, was signed by European Commission Vice President responsible for enterprise and industry, Guenter Verheugen, and Albanian Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy, Genc Ruli. Albania is the fifth country in the group of EU candidates and potential candidates to join the programme. (EU website, BTA - 27/06/08)
