UN's Pascoe invites leaders of two Cypriot communities to important dinner

NICOSIA, Cyprus -- UN Undersecretary General for Political Affairs Lynn Pascoe announced on Saturday (June 7th) that he has invited the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus -- Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat and Cypriot President Demetris Christofias -- to a dinner on June 17th in Nicosia. The aim is to encourage the two leaders to move on to direct negotiations in renewed efforts to reunify the divided island. Christofias and Talat will meet on June 23rd to evaluate the progress of working groups and technical committees established to prepare for direct talks.
