Turkish police arrest 45 suspected al-Qaeda members

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Police arrested 45 suspected members of the terrorist network al-Qaeda Tuesday (April 1st), in a series of simultaneous operations across Istanbul. Media reports suggest they had planned a series of terrorist attacks in the city. No other details were released.

Meanwhile, the BBC reports that a total of 16 members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party have been killed in clashes in the province of Sirnak, near the Turkish-Iraqi border since Monday.
