Casey says Turkey will consult US before any incursion into northern Iraq

WASHINGTON, United States -- Turkey will consult with the United States before any incursion into northern Iraq, General George Casey, chief of staff of the US Army, was quoted as saying by Hurriyet daily on Thursday (August 16th). Asked about the possibility of a joint US-Turkish military operation against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, Casey said the US military believes that its Turkish allies will hold serious discussions with Washington before launching any operation.

Prior to his current assignment, Casey served as commander of the multinational force in Iraq.(Sabah, Hurriyet - 16/08/07)
