UN General Assembly elects former Macedonian foreign minister as president

SKOPJE, Macedonia -- Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Srgjan Kerim will become president of the 62nd Session of the UN General Assembly, succeeding Bahrain's Sheikh Haya Rashed Al Khalifa. Representatives of 192 countries confirmed Kerim's election to the position at the UN General Assembly session in New York on Thursday (May 24th). In his first address, Kerim said some of the most important issues of his one-year term would be multi cultural co-operation, global warming and terrorism. (MIA, Makfax, MRT - 24/05/07)
