ANKARA, Turkey -- The army announced on Tuesday (April 29th) it had killed a large number of Kurdish militants in air strikes in northern Iraq last week, but did not supply an exact figure. The military said 43 Turkish jets took part in air strikes Friday and Saturday against positions of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the regions of Zap, Avashin and Khakurk. Turkish forces destroyed more than 100 suspected PKK bases allegedly used to plan attacks, according to the army. (Sabah, Turkish Press, Zaman - 30/04/08; AFP - 29/04/08)
